Before November 4

Four things are worth doing before launch day: wishlist the game on Steam so the release alert reaches you, check your PC against the listed requirements, read what the real-food reward promise does and does not say, and set expectations for a brand game with no published review yet. Each section below answers one of those questions directly.

What does "earn real food as you play" mean?

The store description promises players will "earn real food as you play" — a promotional hook no other RPG has. The rules behind it have not been published yet; here is exactly what is and is not confirmed.

Confirmed so far

  • The official description promises real food rewards for playing.
  • In-game healing items are real menu items — a Dave’s Single restores 100 HP and cures Frozen.
  • The game itself is free, so the promise costs nothing to try.

Not yet published

  • How rewards are earned, tracked and redeemed.
  • Participating countries, eligibility and expiry dates.
  • Whether a Wendy’s account or the Wendy’s app is required.

Is this the WendyQuest you are looking for?

The name WendyQuest also belongs to an unrelated personal blog and other projects. Before you download anything, here is how to tell the official free Steam RPG apart from the lookalikes.

  • The official game is WendyQuest: Legend of the Four Corner Stones, developed by 81monkeys and listed free on Steam.
  • wendyquest.com is an author’s personal blog about writing and travel — not a game.
  • Wendy’s has made other games before, including the 2019 tabletop RPG Feast of Legends, so older results may point elsewhere.

Is WendyQuest really free?

Yes. The Steam store lists WendyQuest as free to play with no purchase price, no paid edition announced, and no pre-order — you just download it. What free does and does not cover is below.

  • The full game is listed at the price Free on the official Steam store page.
  • Steam Cloud saves and Family Sharing are enabled on the listing.
  • No paid editions, passes or microtransactions have been announced as of this check.
  • The real-food promotion is separate from the price and still has no published rules.

Can your PC run it?

The WendyQuest system requirements are light: Windows 10, 2 GB of RAM minimum and 500 MB of storage. The "Potato" processor and "Deep Fryer" graphics lines are a joke — practically any modern Windows PC clears this bar.

RequirementMinimumRecommended
OSWindows 10Windows 10
Memory2 GB RAM4 GB RAM
Storage500 MB500 MB

The store page replaces exact CPU and GPU names with kitchen puns ("Potato" / "Baked Potato", "Deep Fryer" / "Oven"). The plain-English reading is on the full page.

Will it run on a Steam Deck?

The store description states WendyQuest is available for Steam Deck, and the listing includes full controller support. A formal compatibility rating had not been posted at this check — verify the badge at launch.

  • Steam Deck availability is stated on the official store description.
  • Full controller support and a keyboard-only option are listed among the features.
  • Save-anytime support and adjustable difficulty make short Deck sessions practical.
  • The formal Verified or Playable badge should appear on the store page around release.

Keyboard, controller — or both?

Both work: WendyQuest lists full controller support and a keyboard-only option. In battle you pick Attack, Special or Bag from a menu, and timing your attack inputs right deals bonus damage.

  • Attack — a basic strike; timed input deals supersized damage.
  • Special — spend charge for stronger moves; party allies bring their own.
  • Bag — heal with real menu items, from Crispy Fries to a Dave’s Double.
  • You can pause and save at any time, and the difficulty is adjustable.

Is WendyQuest worth playing on day one?

It is free, tiny (500 MB) and a genuine turn-based RPG with a party, timed attacks and puzzles — not a reskinned ad. The honest caveats: it is a brand game, and no full review or playtime estimate can exist before release.

Reasons to try it

  • Free and lightweight — a five-minute install on almost any PC.
  • Real RPG systems: party allies, elemental flavor matchups, timed hits and puzzles.
  • The screenshots and reception so far suggest more care than most brand games get.

What to weigh

  • No review copies have been reported — quality is unverified until launch.
  • Length and replay value have not been published.
  • It is a Wendy’s marketing game; the humor leans on the brand.

  • ScreenRant — called it a "gorgeous pixel-art fantasy adventure" worth watching.
  • CBR — collected player reactions like "This actually looks great".
  • GBAtemp — summarized it as a free turn-based 2D RPG releasing November 4.
